Charlie Riedel’s – Webster

On Instagram, I asked my followers to recommend plate places; and boy did they deliver. Charlie Riedel’s aka Charlie’s Restaurant, is the best basic plate I’ve ever had; bar none. It’s better than a lot of the “deluxe” plates I’ve had. There isn’t any one part of the plate that is particularly noteworthy. Rather, each ingredient complements the other one; and creates good plate synergy.

The Charlie plate will cost you 12.95; and it’s worth every penny. It’ll definitely be making my top 10 list; and I can’t recommend it enough. Let’s break it down:

HEALTH INSPECTION NOTES:

This restaurant had one non-critical violation and zero critical violations. I would feel comfortable eating here again.

Meat (Cheeseburgers): 5

You can see it in my last photo; this isn’t the standard hockey puck burger that we’ve grown to know and love. This is a solid meat patty cooked to perfection and topped with exquisite cheese.

Meat Sauce: 5

The best Meat sauce I’ve had to date. It was spicy and delicious. A real treat.

Potato Side (Home Fries): 5

I know that in my last post I said that those were the best home fries I’d had. That was before; and this is now. These are the best home fries I’ve had to date. I believe they’re home made too! They’re cooked to perfection and make for a great experience. I should mention that I noticed that they also have crinkle-cut fries. Crinkle-cut fries are my preference for plates. That said the home fries will not disappoint you.

Mac Salad: 5 

The mac salad was creamy, flavorful, and cooked well. An example of how things should be.

Bread: N/A 

I did not receive bread with my order. That said, what I did receive was a free beverage! They gave me a free soda with the purchase of my plate! That’s the first time this has ever happened.

Portion Control/Composition: 4 

I took a point here because I felt that there should be more balance to this plate. Towards the end there was a ton of mac salad left over that was a bit of a slog. That said; this is the best plate for your money that you can get. I can’t recommend it enough. Go there, eat their food, and leave a comment if you disagree.
