Empire Hots Review

On a recommendation from an Instagram follower, I tried Empire hots in Webster. It should go without saying, but I’m on the search for the best plate. So, if any of you have any recommendations PLEASE LET ME KNOW! Leave comments here, DM me on Instagram, comment on the Facebook page. With that out of the way, let’s talk Empire Hots. For 12.19 you can get their version of the garbage plate. It was so good that I added it to my “top 10” list before I’d even written this review.

You may also notice that I got different camera angles on this one. I’m toying around with the idea of getting different angles for the shots I get. Again, please let me know in the comments if you like the new angles; or if there’s anything else you want to see when I shoot. Let’s break down the plate:

HEALTH INSPECTION NOTES:

Empire Hots had a few “noncritical” violations. That said, I am confident that they are following the health department guidelines. I would feel comfortable eating here again.

Meat (Cheeseburgers): 5

One of my favorite parts of this plate. The burger was amazing. Juicy, cooked well; an absolute delight.

Meat Sauce: 4 

The meat sauce was a bit boring/bland. The texture was good but the meat sauce didn’t pack any kind of punch that I expect from a great meat sauce.

Potato Side (Home Fries): 5

These might be the best home fries I’ve had to date. They cooked them perfectly and the home fries were delicious.

Mac Salad: 3 

The mac salad was a bland and boring affair; and they overcooked the noodles. There is room for improvement in this area.

Bread: 2 

The bread was spongy and bland. A generic white bread offering that makes you feel like you’re chewing a pillow.

Portion Control/Composition: 4 

Empire Hots gives you a ton of food with their plate; which I appreciated. They lost points in this category because the plate itself was rather greasy. The bottom of the to-go bag looked like the Exxon Valdez oil spill. The proportions were good and they almost give you too much food.
