Swiftwater Brewing Company – Review

Continuing with our “brew house” theme, I got a direct message on Instagram imploring me to check out the plate at Swiftwater. I’m no stranger to Swiftwater Brewing and it had been on my list for a while; I just never got around to visiting. For $14.00 you can get the “Swiftwater Plate”. Let’s talk about it:

HEALTH INSPECTION NOTES:

The most recent inspection is from November 9, 2019. On this inspection there was one non-critical violation. I believe that Swiftwater is safe in their food handling practices and wouldn’t hesitate to return for that reason.

Meat (Cheeseburgers!): 4

The burgers here were solid, but they were a bit overcooked. A bit too well done for me and it bugged me throughout the experience.

Meat Sauce: 4

The meat sauce was a bit sweet. I couldn’t quite put my finger on the spice that was most prevalent but it was probably cinnamon or allspice. Nothing crazy, a solid meat sauce.

Potato Side (Home fries): 5

Holy shit. These were the best home fries I think I’ve ever had. They use real potatoes, and you can tell that they were made from scratch and with lots of love. I genuinely wish I could award them more than five. These are unparalleled in home fry excellence, and a new standard as far as this reviewer is concerned. They were salted perfectly, and a real treat.

Mac Salad: 4

I felt the mac salad here was enjoyable, but there were large chunks of raw onions in it that were a bit overpowering.

Bread: 5

They really knocked it out of the park with the bread here. They have toasted garlic bread as the bread option, and it’s such a flex. It’s like they’re windmill dunking on the inferior roll option that you normally receive. I cannot emphasize enough, how nice it is to see people doing things with this much attention to detail.

Portion Control/Composition: 5

I was a bit concerned that there would be enough food for me; but the ingredients are of such high quality that it fills you up. The container is deceptively small; they cram a lot of food into what appears to be a rather small package. It’s also worth pointing out that the ingredients mixed well and had good synergy.

Overall Score: 4.5

This was an excellent plate. The attention to detail is evident and they clearly care about the product. It’s a delicious plate that I recommend everybody try.
