The Exchange – Review
A couple weeks ago I had the chance to check out the Exchange plate from The Exchange near Corn Hill. The plate isn’t too expensive coming in at exactly $12.00. I was pleasantly surprised because, I didn’t have any sort of expectations for this place or their food. It was quite good, a sneaky and unassuming spot for top 10 great plate. let’s talk about it:
HEALTH INSPECTION NOTES:
There were four minor violations that I saw from an inspection in February of 2020. They all follow a similar vein which was that food is not adequately protected from potential sources of contamination.
Meat (Cheeseburger): 5
The burger here was very good, they cooked it well and it didn’t taste like the standard frozen bullshit. It tasted like they make the patties in house, but I can’t be sure of that.
Meat Sauce: 4
I enjoyed the meat sauce, it had a different taste to it that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I was thinking it was some kind of Indian spice, but I couldn’t figure it out.
If you know what the spice is, let me know in the comments!
Potato Side (French Fries): 5
These were another bright spot in the plate, they tasted hand cut and like they were made in house. Now of course there’s no way for me to be sure of that, but that was my impression as I was eating it.
Mac Salad: 4
I thought the mac salad was good, but it tasted like they used whole wheat pasta, which we can all agree is gross. It gave the mac salad a mealy texture and when you combine that with the amount of mayo they used, it gets to be a bit of a slog.
Bread: N/A
I did not receive bread with my order.
Portion Control/Composition: 5
They give you a ton of food and everything blends well together. In a world of decidedly mediocre plates, it’s worth giving The Exchange a shot for something a bit better than usual.
