Ken’s Pizza Corner – Brighton – Review

Ken’s Pizza Corner is a tiny little place that you could overlook if you didn’t know it was there. I had a chance to check out a plate from them a few weeks ago and I was not disappointed. For 12.96 you can get their version of the garbage plate. It’s a bit odd ordering cheeseburgers from a pizza place but stay with me on this one.
HEALTH INSPECTION NOTES:
After review, I can confirm that they are following the sanitary guidelines. I would eat here again.
Meat (Cheeseburgers): 3
The burgers here were rather spongy and rubbery. It was the worst part of the plate for me. I’m not sure what I was expecting order a burger from a pizza place but it wasn’t great.
Meat Sauce: 4
The meat sauce had a good flavor to it. Recently, I’ve had a series of plates where they screwed up the meat sauce. I can say that this meat sauce is a standard bearer for how meat sauces should be. It’s nothing fancy but it’s damn good.
Potato Side (Fries): 4
I love me some crinkle-cut fries, but they have other options as well which may be worth checking out.
Mac Salad: 4
The mac salad was enjoyable, again nothing special but a standard mac salad.
Bread: 5
I do love me some fresh bread. It wasn’t one of those bland ass dinner rolls either, it was a tasty piece of bread that I enjoyed thoroughly.
Portion Control/Composition: 4
The reason this plate didn’t receive a five on portion control/composition is because there was a bit too much mac salad. This isn’t the worst thing in the world, but getting stuck at the end with a bunch of mac salad is not great. They give you a nice sized plate and serve it up quickly. The plate itself was rather par for the course. It tasted how a plate should, which is a welcome change from being on the road sampling what the rest of the US has to offer.
As far as I’m concerned, Rochester NY is still the garbage plate king.
